Ep 16 - First time, long time

Before we started this podcast, we didn't know what to do.  The 2016 election happened and everyone said "get involved" - whatever that meant.  All we could think of was to go to meeting after meeting to try and figure it out.

At one of those meetings in early 2017, we met Tim Piatt - a labor attorney from Uniontown, Ohio.  Like us, he was searching for a way to "get involved."  Do you work on a campaign?  Do you start a podcast? (Great idea, by the way). Or do you take on the mantle of leadership fully and run for office yourself?

Well, Tim has bravely chosen the last option and is now running for the Ohio House in the 36th District, a district covering most of Summit County and one that might be the best example of a district gerrymandered to elect Republicans.

Tim doesn't care about that and is running when he thinks it's most important.  And the district might not be as red as you think with its strong labor identity.  Listen to our conversation with Tim Piatt and hear how he's seen that Democrats can compete anywhere.

Learn about Tim Piatt's run at www.timpiatt.com and follow him on Facebook and Twitter @PiattForward.

Sen. Sherrod Brown and Sen. Cory Booker took some time out of fundraising to talk with Tim Piatt about his campaign and what he plans to do if elected in Ohio.

Running for office is a family affair and Tim Piatt's family is all in behind him.
